Myth #3: "I don't need a will because my spouse is going to inherit everything."

This is one of the biggest misconceptions I hear from married women in Georgia.

The truth is, your spouse does not automatically inherit everything simply because you're married.

If you pass away without a will and leave a spouse and children, Georgia law generally says your spouse and children share your probate estate. That can create unexpected complications for the surviving spouse, especially when it comes to the family home or other assets.

Every family's situation is different. That's why relying on Georgia's default laws may not produce the outcome you would have chosen.
