Anita Duckett, Realtor area. I grew up in a section of the Hill District in Pittsburgh known as Sugar Top. But then my family went through some hard times and we were forced to move.

Anita Duckett is a Realtor® with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices The Preferred Realty that provides real estate services to buyers and sellers in the Greater Pittsburgh, Pa. As a child, I remember loving my home and feeling a beautiful sense of safety and warmth, as if that house was my place in the world. We lived in many different homes, but I never felt that feeling of home again. When I became

a mother, I made it my personal mission to make sure my children had a place to call home as I did as a child. So, I created a plan to pay off my debt and to start saving. Once I felt poised to move forward, I went ahead, obtained a pre-approval from the bank, and started my home search. When we found our home, we knew it was the one! The kids ran around calling out their bedrooms, and seeing them smile that day is an image that will forever be etched in my memory. The day I signed the papers, I sat at the table, feeling overcome by a great sense of accomplishment, and thinking to myself: “I did it!”

To me, the house was so much more than a property with a street number on it. This home was now a part of my legacy, our legacy. Home is about so much more than just the four walls that surround us at night. Home is the place where we take photos in the yard on the first day of school. It is the place where the birthday candles are blown out, and where we make memories that will last forever. Home is the place we know we can always return to, to find that peace and love when we open the door. That’s how my passion for Real Estate was born, as an honest effort to help people in my community, accompanying them in one of the most important stages of their lives, and helping them find a place they genuinely love, so they can grow and reach their life goals.
