I was featured on Lawyer Stories today. I am humbled they chose to share my story.
I knew I could never outspend the big injury firms.
So I decided to outwork and out-care them instead.
Starting a personal injury firm in a small market like New Mexico can feel like swimming with sharks. Large out-of-state firms dominate the airwaves with TV ads and billboards, but early on, I realized the best way to compete was to build trust one client at a time.
Because in a close-knit community, reputation means everything.
My path into law started in 2016 as a paralegal at an immigration law firm, where I worked closely with immigrant families seeking legal status in the United States. That experience showed me how powerful honest legal advocacy can be.
A year later, I joined a personal injury firm as a paralegal and immediately connected with the work. I loved being able to fight for ordinary people and build meaningful relationships with clients during difficult moments. As a Spanish speaker, I was also able to better serve New Mexico’s underserved communities.
That experience ultimately led me to attend the University of New Mexico School of Law, where I graduated in 2021.
After spending five years at the same injury firm as a paralegal, law clerk, and attorney, I founded David Rhee Injury Law in January 2023.
I didn’t take the traditional route, and I was never focused on titles or awards. My focus has always been the work itself — helping injured people navigate some of the hardest moments of their lives with honest, personalized advocacy.
Today, I’m proud to serve the same New Mexico community where I was born and raised.
Many of my clients are neighbors, former classmates, members of my church, and lifelong New Mexicans.
This is home.
