The Santa Fe Community Foundation continues its philanthropic generosity in Northern New Mexico by offering grants to those still recovering from the 2022 Hermit's Peak/Calf Canyon wildfire.

Currently, nearly 7,000 wildfire victim cases remain in a federal backlog created by FEMA attorneys.

"Through this and other resources, we have worked to provide firewood to families in partnership with nonprofits in the area, support well testing, flood victims in the burn scar area," said Sandra Session-Robertson, Vice President of Donor Relations for the nonprofit.

The Santa Fe Community Foundation has made three rounds of emergency wildfire relief grants through our Community Resiliency Fund totaling $135,000.

Washington D.C. Recap | Advocacy reaches Capitol Hill

Last week, Antonia and Crystal traveled to Washington, D.C., where Roybal-Mack & Cordova met with FEMA and U.S. Senate offices to continue advocating for the victims of the Hermit’s Peak-Calf Canyon Fire. Our mission remains clear, to help ensure those affected receive the compensation they deserve for the losses caused by these government-initiated fires.

We are encouraged by New Mexico Attorney General Raul Torrez’s support for the Hermit’s Peak-Calf Canyon Fire community through his recent amicus brief affirming that victims deserve to be compensated not only for property losses, but also for the emotional trauma and cultural losses caused by the fire.

Roybal-Mack & Cordova will continue fighting for our clients every step of the way, and we’re grateful to see this important issue receive support from New Mexico’s highest legal office.

We support U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján's bill to help reduce wildfire risk and protect New Mexico's forests. We also appreciate his partnership with senators such as Cindy Hyde-Smith, whose staff we had the opportunity to meet with in support of Hermit's Peak-Calf Canyon Fire recovery efforts.

We look forward to continuing to lock arms with our lawmakers to do what is right for New Mexico.
