Before your notary appointment, make sure you’re prepared. Proper identification is an important part of the notarization process.

✅ Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID, such as:

Driver’s license
State-issued identification card
U.S. passport or passport card
Other government-issued identification accepted under your state’s notary laws

📄 Check these details before your appointment:

✔️ Name consistency: Your name on your ID should match the name on your document as required. If there are differences, let your notary know beforehand.
✔️ Valid identification: Make sure your ID is current and not expired, unless applicable state law allows otherwise.
✔️ Clear photo and information: Your photo and identifying details must be readable so your identity can be verified.
✔️ Personal appearance: You generally must appear before the notary in person or through an authorized remote notarization process.
✔️ Additional requirements: Some documents or situations may require witnesses or other steps.
