The attorneys and staff of Brimberry, Kaplan & Brimberry, PC, wish to congratulate one of our partner-attorneys, Alex J. Kaplan, for another rare win for a criminal defendant in Southwest Georgia – specifically the South Georgia Judicial Circuit.
Last month, Alex successfully defended a client charged with elder abuse, timber theft, and related offenses at trial in Cairo (Grady County), Georgia, with the Honorable Chief Superior Court Judge Heather Lanier presiding. The circuit’s long time District Attorney, Joe Mulholland, personally prosecuted this case and the significant charges against Alex’s client, including multiple felonies. Alex never stopped believing in his client’s innocence and, at trial, fought these allegations through jury selection, expert witness testimony and significant documentary evidence.
After two tough days of trial and spirited closing arguments, the jury returned its verdict of “Not Guilty” on all counts following approximately forty (40) minutes of deliberations. Alex has said that this trial was remarkably “tough” and the brief deliberations were “the fastest of his career, period.”
Consistent with the tremendous result achieved for this client, the trial attorneys and staff at Brimberry, Kaplan & Brimberry, remain committed to providing high quality and aggressive legal representation in civil, criminal and domestic matters, including recovering just compensation for serious injuries and death and defending against criminal charges, including DUI.
