“I am currently traveling by train down to Manhattan to attend the New York State Bar Association’s annual conference and hold the Trial Lawyers Section executive committee meeting, CLE programming, and awards reception. While reviewing my materials, I can’t help but reminisce on my last four years serving as an officer of New York State Bar Association Trial Lawyers Section.
I have met and come to know countless friends and colleagues that I would likely never have had the opportunity to do otherwise. I have had the privilege of attending valuable CLEs and networking functions. I have also come to learn what it takes to further the success of a strong professional bar association section. During the four years, my professional practice has dramatically evolved, taking on an in-house counsel role with a statewide labor union, and also forming my own law firm. My personal life has also changed significantly, meeting my wife, Lisa Taber French, buying our first home together, getting married and forming a family, and also having our daughter be born and grow. Thoughout this time, my participation with NYSBA and the section has been a constant. Although my last order of business as the section chair will take place over the next couple of days, I am committed to maintain my connection to the section as an EC member and past chair, keeping that constant. Don’t fix it, if it’s not broken, right?”
