❗️Second Amendment Legal Update❗️
Tomorrow, November 7, 2023, at 10:00 am, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in United States v. Rahimi, to decide whether the Federal prohibition against the possession of fi****ms by persons subject to a domestic-violence restraining order [18 U.S.C. 922(g)(8)], violates the Second Amendment on its face.
Earlier this year, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals found that the Federal statute does violate the Second Amendment, in the wake of last year's Supreme Court Bruen decision.
If you are interested in listening to the oral arguments, they will be live-streamed on the Supreme Court's website. The Supreme Court also archives the arguments and posts transcripts of them, in case you cannot live-stream them.
The decision in this case will likely have significant ramifications for similar state statutes and constitutes one of many current and future challenges to existing laws in the wake of the historic Bruen decision.
