518ElevatED's mission is to provide specialized programs, mentoring, professional guidance, and academic and financial support for qualifying high school students in the Capital Region. By assembling a network of business leaders, educational advocates, and dedicated volunteers, promising youth are provided opportunity and access to higher education that may be otherwise unavailable. This year’s event will feature the world premiere of two Public Service Announcement films written and directed by 518 ElevatED Scholars. These films highlight issues facing youth in the Capital Region, from the importance of third spaces to safety while walking home. They were created as part of the Albany County Legislature’s Anti-Bullying Initiative, in collaboration with The Don’t Wait Project and The Red Bookshelf.
