For many parents and children, this time of year is exciting as children are returning to school for new experiences and getting back into their regular routines.
Along with that, particularly in the COVID-era of extra reliance of educational technology, including chrome books, online learning programs, etc. come new challenges and concerns and things that both parents and students need to be aware of.
Did you know that the Federal Trade Commission recently issued a policy statement that put educational technology on notice that companies can’t require parents and schools to agree to the comprehensive surveillance of children for kids to use those learning tools? Thus, parents and guardians are urged to pay close attention to the technology children use, what information they collect, and how they use it.
Make sure to stay informed about how your children's information is being used and stored, including having regular discussions with your children about internet safety.
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2022-2023 school year!
