Stephen Matthew Grachanin was born in Youngstown in 1981 and was raised in Campbell, Ohio. He graduated Valedictorian from Campbell Memorial High School in 1999 and sought higher education at the University of Akron. Grachanin began his legal career in February of 2000 as a Law Clerk at an AV rated medical malpractice/personal injury plaintiff's firm, and spent most of his adult life with the firm. He went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from the University of Akron in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts with a major in political science and a minor in pre-law and professional writing. Grachanin received his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Akron School of Law in 2008. He is currently licensed to practice law in Ohio. Grachanin is married to the former Angela Mullis of Diamond, Ohio and has three children, Vincent, Joanna and Lillian Grace. He has been involved in several trials and also served as one of the primary attorneys in negotiating many six-figure settlements for his clients. Grachanin was named to the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, one of the most prestigious groups of trial lawyers in the United States. Membership is limited to attorneys who have won million and multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements. Fewer than 1% of U.S. lawyers are members. On October 15, 2015, Mr. Grachanin joined KIM & ASSOCIATES, LLC in order to build his own criminal defense and personal injury practice. When you look to the sky today, you will see the Supreme Court's flag flying at half-staff in remembrance of the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001. As we honor their memory, we also remember the courage, sacrifice, and heroism displayed that day. May we never forget.

The 2026 judicial candidate ratings are available now!

The Akron Bar Association's Commission on Judicial Candidates takes a great deal of time to perform their due diligence, which included a review of continuing legal education transcripts, answers to a detailed questionnaire, writing samples, and phone calls with references, in addition to the interview and deliberation process.

More than two dozen qualifying attorneys spent time over ten evenings to complete their work, plus the review time outside of the scheduled meetings, which is greatly appreciated by the association and voters alike.
