We are deeply grateful for our community’s respect for the rights of individuals and organizations to express calls for change, reflection, justice, and public inquiry through nonviolent civil disobedience.
We believe in the people of Akron, and we are committed to nurturing diversity and equity in downtown in everything we do—from organizational self-reflection, to start-up assistance and business support, to creating and programming public spaces where everyone is welcome to experience moments of joy, reflection, community, and peace. This is the downtown we want to build and grow.
Amid the struggle to process the conclusion of the state’s investigation of the officer-involved shooting of Jayland Walker, we will do our best to share news of downtown organizations, businesses, infrastructure and events. We will continue to seek ways to provide space for people to gather, share experiences and support, and spend time to renew and heal.
