Veterans are formally invited to participate in Laura’s 21st Annual Summit County Stand Down Appreciation Day at Guy’s Party Center (500 E. Waterloo Rd., Akron) on September 14 - 15th, 2026. This two-day initiative connects veterans with over 70 supporting organizations, offering free health screenings, dental care, legal assistance, housing and employment resources, meals, and essential supplies. Free transportation is available, and the venue parking lot opens at 7:00am. Pre-registration is mandatory for Monday's dental clinic and educational workshops. Volunteer and vendor registrations are also being accepted. Attendees must present a Military ID, DD214, or Photo ID upon arrival.

REMINDER: Pop-Up Food Pantry this Friday – September 4

The City of Stow is proud to partner with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank to offer our monthly Pop-Up Food Pantry this Fri., September 4, from 9 - 11 AM at Stow City Hall (3760 Darrow Rd.).

Families can receive approximately 20–30 pounds of food, including a variety of fresh, frozen, and shelf-stable items to help supplement their monthly groceries.

What you need to know:
• No pre-registration required
• First come, first served while supplies last
• Check-in is completed on-site using Foodbank tablets
• Bringing an ID can help speed up the process, but an ID is not required to receive food

If you or someone you know could benefit from a little extra support, we encourage you to stop by. Please help us spread the word by sharing this post with friends, family, and neighbors.

Flu Vaccine clinics are coming to our Elderly & Disabled communities this month, giving residents a convenient opportunity to get vaccinated. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this on-site resource from MAC Pharmacy and stay one step ahead of seasonal illness.

Vaccines are of NO CHARGE to patients with:
• Medicare Part B
• Medicare HMO
• Medicaid
• SummaCare

Calling all childhood creatives! The Akron Art Museum invites you to Kids Maker Fest on Sunday, December 6th from 12 -3 PM. The event will feature kid vendors who have used their skills to create artwork, products, inventions, and more for you to browse and buy. Choose something for yourself or pick up a gift for a friend, all while supporting the community’s budding business owners.
