THE ESTATE HOUSE IS VACANT. WHAT SHOULD WE DO FIRST?
Before worrying about paint colors, repairs, or listing photos, protect the property first.
A vacant estate home can develop expensive problems quickly if no one is watching it.
Some of the first things to check:
• Is the insurance company aware the home is vacant?
• Who has keys and access?
• Are the doors and windows secure?
• Are necessary utilities still on?
• Is the heat operating when needed?
• Is there a sump pump?
• Are there any signs of leaks or water damage?
• Who is handling lawn care or snow removal?
• Is mail piling up?
• Is anyone entering the property who should not be?
You do not need to renovate the house immediately.
But you do want to protect the asset while the estate decides what happens next.
TLB Realty helps families evaluate estate properties, identify immediate concerns, and plan the next step before the home is ready to sell.
