This is general information from USCIS. Please confirm with your attorney before taking any action specific to your case.

With regard to family law and probate matters, how are court hearing affected?

The Texas courts are adjusting regular operations and most non-emergency hearings are being rescheduled. The Courts will not hear uncontested or prove up matters. Some courts are taking agreed orders by submission and not requiring a hearing, but that will be determined on a case by case basis. Although the situation changes daily, we are following the situation closely and are constantly being updated on what the courts are doing during this time. Please speak with your attorney to assess what this will mean for your case.

On January 31, 2020, USCIS announced a new version of Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification. Employers should begin using this updated form immediately with total conversion to use of the new form by May 1, 2020. A frequent error we see in I-9 audits is use of the wrong editions of the form given the frequent updates to this form by USCIS. Let us know if we can assist you in conducting a review of your records.

Not all nonimmigrants are eligible to work. Find out more on our What's New page.

Firm Philosophy

Gupta & Wiora, P.C., based in Dallas, Texas, is dedicated to the practice of immigration/consular law, family law, and estate/probate law. Our firm consists of five in-house attorneys, one attorney of counsel, and invaluable administrative staff.

We have extensive experience in successfully representing foreign nationals on employment-based immigration, family-based immigration, and naturalization matters. Our diverse clientele varies from large multinational corporations to small technology firms to individuals many of which are nurses, physicians, artists, researchers, instructors and other professionals. In the employment-based area we handle matters such as labor certifications and immigrant visa petitions such as extraordinary ability alien, outstanding professor/researcher, multi-national manager, and national interest waivers. In the non-immigrant area we handle matters such as B-1/B-2, TN, H-1B, L-1A/L-1B, E-1/E-2/E-3, and O-1 visa petitions. In the family-based area we handle matters such as alien relative petitions, marriage-based petitions and fiancé (e) visas.

We also offer family and estate/probate law services in our practice. Our seasoned family law/estate and probate attorney has expanded the depth of our firm to our clientele who are often presented challenges in these complementary legal arenas.

We pride ourselves on managing our firm’s case load effectively and efficiently, bringing a creative — though sometimes admittedly unorthodox — approach.
