Our Story

Melissa Cowart founded Red Gate Realty in 2017 after she witnessed first hand how empowering home ownership can be. In 2011, Melissa Cowart and her children left an abusive relationship of 14 years and sought refuge in a local safe house. She and her children encountered may obstacles in securing housing and building a future. She credits becoming a homeowner as playing a huge part in keeping her and her children from getting into another domestic violence relationship and providing stability for her children. More then anything, Melissa wants to share the amazing opportunities that real estate has brought to her.

"I want to help others achieve their dreams, whether it be from buying a home, selling your current home to accommodate your life's transitions or leaping into your dream of becoming a property investor." -Melissa

Melissa Cowart and her team have been able to assist many families through out the upstate achieve their real estate goals and actively takes part in legislative committees to advocate for policies effecting home ownership. Melissa served as 2019 MLS Board member and 2020 Greenwood Association of Realtors President Elect.

"What I do is rewarding. It is amazing to visit a client and have their child drag you to their bedroom to show you their wall color because they couldn't paint their room when they rented. I have been able to help senior citizens sell their homes so that they can afford the assisted living. I have also cared for people through out purchase and sell of their investment properties which made them financial independent." -Melissa
