The session will discuss how to manage the many participants in international arbitrations (including the arbitrators, institutions, clients, counsel, experts, witnesses, service providers etc), and how to manage procedural timetables and budgets. In addition, attendees will be walked through the initial steps of international arbitrations under ICC, LCIA and UNCITRAL Rules. Jane has a wealth of experience across Africa, acting as legal advisor, counsel or arbitrator in many countries including Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan, Kenya, Rwanda, Ghana, Benin, Nigeria, Angola and Egypt, etc. She has served as counsel for TANROADS, the Ministry of Works (Tanzania), MCA-T, the Tanzanian Broadcasting Corporation and even for one of the leading construction companies in Uganda. She also particularly possesses expertise in disputes arising on energy and infrastructural projects. Beyond all the foregoing, she has served as an officer of the International Construction Projects Committee at the International Bar Association for many years and she is currently the vice-chair of the 3VB International Advisory and Dispute Resolution Unit, and a member of the Steering Committee for the Pledge for Equal Representation in Arbitration.
She has negotiated and drafted contracts for clients around the world, including the suite of construction and related contracts for the Euro 3.3 billion PPP-funded St Petersburg ring road in Russia. Jane also regularly negotiates dispute resolution and settlement agreements and has worked in international arbitration for nearly 25 years.

David is a specialist in Arbitration, Construction Law and Commercial Litigation. His practice focuses on complex disputes involving major Infrastructure and Construction projects, Energy and Commercial transactions. His experience spans over a broad range of industries including mining, energy, shipping and complex Mergers and Acquisitions. He has acted as counsel and arbitrator in several arbitration proceedings brought under the major international arbitration rules including the UNCITRAL Rules, ICC, and LCIA. He has also counsel in numerous arbitration proceedings domestically at the CADER, UIPE and the Ugandan Society of Architects.
Currently, he is the Senior Partner at Kaggwa & Kaggwa Advocates and the Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Uganda Chapter. He is also a fellow of the FCIArb, a fellow of FICCP, a member of the Society of Construction Law for Africa, a member of the LCIA, a member of the CADER and a member of the International Bar Association.
