BUILDING SUSTAINABLE & FUNCTIONAL COMMUNITIES

Transforming communities starts with the development of clear policies, strategies, and action plans, whose implementation is supported by a strong Urban Governance system. Wakari Housing is leading this transformation agenda for
Bussi and Zzinga Islands, both located about 50KM from Kampala City, and less than 20mins ride on a boat from Entebbe City, and Entebbe International Airport.

We are guiding the community towards the creation of a Development Plan - proposed Bussi Island City Plan, the first of its kind, aimed at changing these currently rural islands into one of the most futuristic waterfront cities within the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area (GKMA).

This planned project resonates with the current government plan of expanding Kampala City to these locations and beyond under the GKMA development strategy.

The project also aligns with our 5-Year program, where through our flagship project - the Green Cities Initiative, we shall support regional cities, municipalities, and town councils with creation of affordable urban development plans, aimed at hastening the development of sustainable and functional communities in Uganda.

The desire to see a decent urban form in our cities and towns, explains our sustained commitment to creating excellent housing designs. Such an existing relationship between architecture and urban form underscores the need for all planning practitioners to closely engage, through training, workshops, and other informal meetings.
