These are not new clients. We've been working with this family from Moldova for about eight years. Work permits, temporary residence renewals, various issues along the way. The kind of relationship where you know the situation inside out.
When Ukrainian law changed and opened permanent residence to foreigners who had been living here for five continuous years, we decided to go for it.
Getting there was not simple. The certificate of no criminal record from Moldova alone took months to sort out. Proof of residence was another headache. Document preparation took about three months before we could even file. Then six months of waiting for the immigration permit.
This morning she came in to submit the permanent residence application. Biometrics done. Her husband is next.
Eight years together. Still going.
If you have been living in Ukraine for years and have never checked whether permanent residence is now an option for you, it probably is worth a conversation.
