While remote and hybrid work models are quite common for startups to attract talents, they also widen the gaps through which trade secrets and confidential data can leak—putting a company's core technology, confidential information and value at risk.

Xirilaw sets out three areas companies can strengthen now: their legal documents, their technical controls, and their training and audit practice. We also offers practical guidance for startup founders in the full article.

【The One-Stop Banking Services for Foreign Residents in Taiwan Officially Launched】

The National Development Council (NDC), in collaboration with Talent Taiwan, has officially launched the One-Stop Banking Services for Foreign Residents initiative. With the participation of six leading banks, this program aims to provide a more accessible, efficient, and foreigner-friendly banking experience, helping international professionals overcome language and administrative barriers and integrate more seamlessly into Taiwan’s financial ecosystem.

Xiri Law is honored to attend the Launch Ceremony for the One-Stop Banking Services for Foreign Residents. We applaud this important step toward creating a more welcoming environment for international talent and strengthening Taiwan’s position as a global destination for professionals, entrepreneurs, and investors.

Yesterday, March 11, 2026, Maiya Mai and Peter Lin presented “Running a Startup in Taiwan: Legal and Employment Issues After Incorporation” at FutureWard Coworking 共同空間.

We addressed the critical legal and labor compliance challenges founders face immediately after setup. Maiya Mai provided a practical guide to key obligations under the Company Act and offered a bird’s-eye view of the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA). Peter Lin shared insights on lawful unilateral termination initiated by employers and the Principle of Last Resort, and discussed why clear probationary clauses are vital in employment contracts.

Our goal was to equip entrepreneurs with a clear legal roadmap for scaling their businesses in Taiwan.

The presentation material in the comment section is intended to briefly summarize the talk.

While remote and hybrid work models are quite common for startups to attract global talent, they do not exempt employers from compliance under the Taiwan Labor Standards Act.

Xirilaw highlights two recurring risk areas under Taiwan labor law—how attendance is recorded and how overtime is determined—and offers practical guidance for startup founders in the full article.
