Building Resilience. Inspiring Youth. Shaping Tomorrow.

The Ministry of Homeland Security, through the Policy and Community Support Office (PACSO), officially launched “The Resilient Youth” a multi-sectoral and multi-disciplinary motivational and inspirational audio-visual production designed to deliver a powerful message of hope, resilience and encouragement to young people.

The launch formed part of PACSO’s Back to School Initiative and was held today, Friday 4th September 2026, at the Radisson Hotel Trinidad.

Representing the Honourable Roger Alexander, Minister of Homeland Security, Permanent Secretary Dr. Wilson Henderson Jr. delivered the Minister’s address, underscoring the importance of empowering young people to navigate challenges, build resilience and recognise their potential.

The initiative brought together stakeholders from across the public sector, law enforcement, youth and social services, NGOs and civil society, reinforcing a shared commitment to supporting and inspiring the nation’s youth.

“Our Voice, Our Future”: National Youth Forum 2026 Brings Young People Together to Shape the Nation

The Ministry of Homeland Security, through the Policy and Community Support Office (PACSO), hosted the National Youth Forum 2026 today at the Couva Chamber of Commerce under the theme “Our Voice, Our Future: Shaping the Nation Together.”

The Forum brought together young people and key stakeholders for meaningful dialogue on the issues affecting youth, including safety, inclusion, opportunities, wellbeing, sport and community support.

In delivering the Featured Address, The Honourable Roger D. Alexander, Minister of Homeland Security, emphasised the importance of ensuring that young people are not simply spoken to, but are given meaningful opportunities to share their perspectives and contribute to shaping national solutions.

Minister said, “Today’s National Youth Forum is about more than listening to young people, it is about creating a space where youths voices can influence the conversations and actions that shape their future. We must continue to work with our young people, understand the challenges they face and ensure that their ideas are part of building safer, stronger and more supportive communities.”

The Forum also featured remarks from The Honourable Vandana Mohit, Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services; Dr. the Honourable Michael R. Dowlath, Minister of Education; and Mr. Ugo Blanco, Resident Representative, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The day featured a Resource Fair, panel discussions, interactive sessions and focus-group discussions, culminating in a Call to Action focused on building the future together.

When young people have a voice, they can help shape the nation they want to see.

PRINCES TOWN FIRE STATION REOPENS

The Ministry of Homeland Security today officially reopened the Princes Town Fire Station at it’s new location on 12–14 King Street, restoring 24-hour fire and emergency response services to Princes Town.

Serving approximately fifty-six (56), the reopened station strengthens emergency response and provides firefighters with an upgraded facility to better serve the community.

The station is staffed by 30 fire personnel and equipped with a water tender to support rapid emergency response.

The reopening reflects the Government’s commitment to strengthening emergency coverage, improving public safety and ensuring communities have timely access to essential emergency services.
