A STORY OF PATIENCE, JUSTICE, AND A HAPPY ENDING
Our Filipino client went through a very difficult journey in Turkey.
While working for her former employer, her legal rights were not paid. Like anyone seeking justice, she decided to take the lawful path and filed a compensation lawsuit against her employer. Unfortunately, instead of respecting the legal process, the employer reacted with anger and filed a false criminal complaint, accusing her of theft.
At the same time, her work permit was unlawfully terminated. Because of this, she suddenly fell into an irregular status, even though none of this was her fault.
Due to her irregular status, she could not attend court hearings, and as a result, an arrest warrant (warrant of arrest) was issued against her. This turned her life into a nightmare. She could not move freely, she could not apply for any legal status, and she was living in constant fear.
When she contacted us, the first and most important step was to solve this serious criminal issue.
We ensured that she safely appeared before the court without any problems. The truth came out. The court saw that the accusations were baseless, and the arrest warrant was officially lifted. This was a turning point. For the first time in a long while, she could breathe again.
After the warrant was lifted, we immediately applied for the domestic work residence permit under the amnesty program. Everything was done properly and lawfully. However, once again, something unexpected happened: the application was rejected.
We knew this rejection was not correct.
Following detailed discussions and official correspondence with the Immigration Office in Ankara, the authorities reviewed the case again. After examining the file, they acknowledged that the rejection decision was made in error and that our legal position was correct.
The mistake was corrected.
Today, our client finally received her residence card in her hands.
What started as a story of injustice, fear, and uncertainty ended with freedom, legality, and relief.
This case is a reminder:
👉 Even when everything seems lost,
👉 Even when false accusations and wrong decisions pile up,
there is always a legal way forward when you don’t give up.
Justice may take time — but with patience and the right legal steps, it does arrive.

🇹🇷 Long-Term Residence Permit in Turkey – Full & Clear Guide

Hello ! 👋
Hope you’re doing well. Today, we would like to continue talking about long-term residence permits in Turkey and answer the most common questions we received under our previous posts.

Many people confuse long-term residence with Turkish citizenship, but they are not the same:

🔹 Citizenship generally requires 5 years
🔹 Long-term residence requires 8 years of uninterrupted legal stay

---

✅ Who Can Apply for a Long-Term Residence Permit?

A foreigner may apply for a long-term residence permit if all of the following conditions are met:

📌 1. 8 Years of Uninterrupted Legal Stay

The applicant must have stayed in Turkey for at least 8 years with valid residence permits or work permits.

Periods spent without a residence permit or work permit are not counted.

Time spent outside Turkey or in Turkey without a valid permit is considered an interruption.

In each one-year period, absences must not exceed 180 days.

In the last 5 years, total absences must not exceed 365 days.

If a foreigner stays abroad or without a permit for more than 6 months at once (in one or consecutive exits), the application is rejected directly.

Periods after a deportation decision are not included in the calculation.

---

📌 2. No Special Protection Status

Applicants must not be:

Refugees

Conditional refugees

Under temporary protection

Holders of humanitarian or other special residence permits

---

📌 3. No Social Assistance

The applicant must not have received any social assistance from public institutions (such as Governor’s Offices) in the last 3 years prior to the application date.

---

💰 4. Sufficient and Regular Income

When assessing financial sufficiency, the following rules apply:

The applicant must have the financial capacity to cover monthly living expenses equal to at least the current net minimum wage valid in the year of application.

Additionally, for each family member (including the applicant), the applicant must be able to cover expenses equal to at least one-third of the minimum wage per person, with the total amount not being less than one full minimum wage.

Income may be from Turkey or abroad.

If income is from abroad, all supporting documents must be apostilled.

Third-party guarantees or undertakings are not accepted.

---

🏥 5. Health Insurance

The applicant must have valid health insurance at the time of application.

---

🔒 6. Public Order & Security

Security checks may be conducted.

Applicants must not pose a threat to public order or public security.

---

⚠️ Important Warning

If your short-term residence permit expires while your long-term application is under evaluation, and your application is later rejected, you will be considered illegal.

➡️ To avoid this risk, always extend your current residence permit until a final decision is issued.

---

🌟 What Rights Do You Get?

If approved, you are granted the right to live in Turkey indefinitely.

Long-term residence permit holders:

❌ Cannot vote or be elected

❌ Cannot enter public service

❌ Are exempt from military service

✅ Can live, travel, invest, do business, and own property in Turkey under rules similar to Turkish citizens

📢 Amnesty Success Story – Important Information for Everyone!

Today I want to share a real case to help anyone who might face a similar situation.

One of my clients was working legally in Turkey with a work permit, but her employer cancelled the permit without informing her. When she came to me, she had only a 10-day window to apply for a normal residence permit.

To protect her legal status, I immediately started a regular residence permit application so she wouldn’t become illegal and wouldn’t have any problem with the police. While this application kept her fully legal, I advised her to look for a new employer who could apply for her amnesty residence permit, which has a much higher approval chance.

She found a new employer, so we stopped the first application and submitted a fresh amnesty application.

✅ And today, she got approved!

This strategy allowed her to stay legal the entire time, avoid risk, and finally get her residence permit through amnesty with 100% success.

If you or someone you know is in a similar situation — work permit cancelled, employer problem, or unsure what to do — remember that you may still benefit from the amnesty program if you can find a suitable employer.

Feel free to share this information with others who might need it.
I am here to help you choose the right path and stay safe and legal.

Hello everyone!
I visited the Istanbul Immigration Office today for the amnesty application and I’d like to share the latest updates:

✅ If your residence permit or amnesty application was rejected, you can reapply 6 months after the date of your application.

✅ If your work permit was cancelled or expired, you can apply for the amnesty immediately, without any waiting period.

❗ Men are not eligible for the amnesty. The application is only available for women.

❗ Those who do not have an employer cannot benefit from the amnesty.

🌍 Amnesty applications are ongoing throughout Türkiye.

⏰ There is still no official end date for the amnesty, so if you’re planning to apply, it’s best not to delay.

📢 Please share this post in other groups and with your friends so everyone can stay informed about the latest updates.

Long-Term Residency in Turkey 🇹🇷

Hello, how are you? If you are okay, let's start this important post.

Many people confuse long-term residency with citizenship applications — however, while citizenship requires 5 years, long-term residency requires 8 years of uninterrupted stay in Turkey.

✅ You can apply regardless of your current residence permit type or remaining duration.
⚠️ If your short-term permit expires while your long-term application is being processed and it later gets rejected, you’ll be considered illegal. To avoid this risk, always extend your short-term permit until a decision is made.

💰 Your income can be from Turkey or abroad — but if you’re showing income from abroad, make sure all documents are apostilled.

If you meet the requirements, you may be granted the right to reside in Turkey indefinitely.
