On November 12, 2025, the Immigration Bureau, following the anti–cybercrime policy of Thai Prime Minister and Police Commissioner General , announced new enforcement measures instructed senior officers to implement stricter controls in four areas:
1.Tightened visa-run screening: Foreigners using visa exemptions more than twice without valid justification may be denied entry.
2.Stricter border interception: Foreign nationals on watch-lists or previously deported/pushed back at high-risk border areas, such as Mae Sot, will be refused entry.
3.Tougher stay extensions: Provincial immigration offices will deny or revoke stay extensions for foreigners with visa-run histories, followed by deportation.
4.Nationwide overstayer crackdown: All divisions are ordered to conduct large-scale operations to arrest foreigners overstaying their visas.
Although these measures may slow passport processing, the Immigration Bureau maintains that tourism will not be negatively affected and that the stricter screening will help ensure higher-quality, law-abiding visitors
