In light of the changing economic and political landscape in Asia, there is a need for reassessment of legal dimensions and understanding in response to these changes. The 5th Biennial Conference of the Asian Society of International Law 2015 will be a timely forum for such reassessment and a platform of discussion for lawyers and legal academics from within the region and outside the region. The
conference will include topics such as the legal aspects on regional economic integration and cooperation, investment, free trade areas, financial cooperation, commercial arbitration, international intellectual property protection, international taxation, political and social integration and cooperation, transnational crimes, international humanitarian law, international adjudication, dispute resolutions, legal impacts on the environment and energy, and impacts on the legal dimension of doing business in various parts of the Asian Region. Realizing that the youth are the future and their leadership is important for the changes in Asia, and following the success of the Youth Forum organized by Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ) during the Inter-sessional AsianSIL Conference in June this year on the topic of the Rule of Law, the Asian Society of International Law (AsianSIL) is to hold the AsianSIL Youth Forum 2015 in conjunction with the 5th Biennial Conference in November 2015. The forum aims to replicate what will occur in the actual conference, with the topics of Legal Aspects on Regional Economic Integration and Cooperation, Legal Aspects on Regional Integration and Cooperation in Political and Social Dimensions, Legal Aspects on Regional Integration and Cooperation in Environment and Energy, and Changing Approach to International Law. It is hoped that the youth forum will create the platform for young law and non-law students in Asia to discuss, exchange views and experiences to help shape the changing economic and political landscape in Asia. At the same time, the forum is expected to foster new friendship and relationship among the new generations of Asia.
