A new chapter in Bangladesh–Thailand maritime connectivity is taking shape!

On 18 August 2026, the Embassy facilitated the signing ceremony of two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at establishing direct shipping connectivity between Chattogram Port and Ranong Port. Under the MoUs, signed between FK Line International Group Co. Ltd. and Bengal Oceanic Ltd., and between FK Line International Group Co. Ltd. and Swift Sea Shipping Lines, Bengal Oceanic Ltd. will serve as Port Agent, while Swift Sea Shipping Lines will serve as Sales Agent in Bangladesh for FK Line.

Once operationalized, the envisaged direct maritime connectivity is expected to significantly reduce shipment times and costs, while enhancing trade, connectivity and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and Thailand and opening new avenues for wider regional connectivity.

Ambassador Mrs. Urasa Mongkolnavin, Director-General of the Department of South Asian, Middle East and African Affairs, received the Ambassador of Bangladesh for an introductory meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand on 13 August 2026.

During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations and enhance cooperation across a wide range of areas of mutual interest, particularly the exchange of high level visits, trade and investment, connectivity, agriculture, defense, culture and sports, tourism and people-topeople ties. They also discussed preparations for the 4th Bilateral Consultations between Bangladesh and Thailand and exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest.

বাংলাদেশ দূতাবাস, ব্যাংকক -এর উদ্যোগে গত ২৫-২৬ জুলাই, ২০২৬ তারিখে কম্বোডিয়াস্থ প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশিদের জন্য নমপেন-এ কনস্যুলার ক্যাম্প এর আয়োজন করে।ক্যাম্পে কম্বোডিয়াস্থ প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশিগণ ই-পাসপোর্ট এনরোলমেন্ট, ট্রাভেল পারমিটসহ অন্যান্য কনস্যুলার সেবা গ্রহণ করেন। উক্ত কনস্যুলার ক্যাম্প -এ আবেদনকৃত পাসপোর্টের মধ্যে ১ম দফায় নিম্নোক্ত ৪৪ (চুয়াল্লিশ) টি পাসপোর্ট বাংলাদেশ দূতাবাস, ব্যাংকক-এ এসে পৌঁছেছে এবং বিতরণের জন্য প্রস্তুত রয়েছে। (তালিকা সংযুক্ত)
প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশিদের দোরগোড়ায় প্রয়োজনীয় কনস্যুলার সেবা পৌঁছে দেওয়ার লক্ষ্যে বাংলাদেশ দূতাবাস, ব্যাংকক-এর এ ধরনের কার্যক্রম অব্যাহত থাকবে।

H.E. Mr. Humaiun Kobir, Hon’ble Adviser for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, met H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Hon’ble Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand this morning. During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the longstanding multifaceted bilateral relationship through high-level exchanges, enhanced trade and investment, greater connectivity, stronger people-to-people ties, and closer regional and global partnership. They underscored the importance of fully utilizing all existing bilateral mechanisms and exploring potential areas of cooperation to elevate Bangladesh–Thailand relations to new heights. Ambassador of Bangladesh to Thailand was also present at the meeting.
