The Government of Myanmar through the Department of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Commerce in collaboration with other relevant government agencies held the first ever International Conference on Intellectual Property 2025 in NayPyiTaw, Myanmar on 3-4 July 2025. 📌 It is a common practice in Thailand for an employee whose employment was terminated with or without any cause to file an unfair termination claim in Court against the employer. Thai law does not define the “unfair termination” term. However, precedents of the Supreme Court have shown that “unfair termination” refers to a situation where an employer terminates an employee without legal cause of termination and/or without compliance with the proper employment termination procedures as required by law. 📢 On 14th November 2024, the Government enacted the Royal Decree on Determination of the Period for Starting the Collection of Savings and Contributions to the Employee Welfare Fund (“RD”) and published the RD in the Government Gazette on 15th November 2024 to mandate employers and employees to pay contributions to the EWF starting from 1st October 2025. 📢 On 24th September 2024, the Royal Thai Government Gazette published the Act on Amendment to the Civil and Commercial Code (“CCC”) (No. 24) B.E. 2567 (“Act”) to legalize same-sex marriage. The Act makes Thailand the first Southeast Asian nation to recognize and protect the rights of same-sex couples. The Act will come into effect from 22nd January 2025.
