⚖️ Lexpertise Academy successfully organized the “Legal Frontier Seminar 2026”

Lexpertise Academy successfully organized the Legal Frontier Seminar 2026 on 8–9 January 2026 at Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok, welcoming clients, invited guests, and legal professionals to exchange practical insights on digital law and modern business regulation.

The seminar opened with Dr. Suthiphon Thaveechaiyagarn, who delivered a strategic session on “Law, Technology & Leadership,” emphasizing that regulatory compliance must be supported by strong business literacy and aligned with business continuity.

Building on this foundation, Mr. Nandana Indananda, Managing Partner of Lexpertise Law Firm, led an in-depth session on “IP in Practice and Litigation,” guiding participants through practical approaches to handling complex IP disputes, supported by Supreme Court precedents. The discussion on digital enforcement continued with Dr. Narun Popattanachai, who provided a clear overview of cryptocurrency and digital asset regulation, highlighting the challenges faced by regulators in a decentralized environment.

The enforcement perspective was further explored by Assoc. Prof. Kanathip Thongraweewong in his session on “PDPA in Practice,” offering insights into real-world enforcement and lessons from recent cases. Asst. Prof. Dr. Weerayut Lasongyang then addressed “Lawful Termination,” sharing practical guidance based on Supreme Court rulings, particularly in relation to retirement disputes in the private sector.

The academic program concluded with Dr. Saliltorn Thongmeensuk, who presented a forward-looking session on AI Laws, examining ethical considerations and Thailand’s draft principles ahead of formal regulation.

Beyond the academic sessions, both days concluded with networking dinners, reinforcing Lexpertise Academy’s commitment to combining practical legal knowledge with meaningful professional connections.

Authored by Mr. Nandana Indananda, Mr. Manaswee Wongsuryrat, and Ms. Ploynapa Julagasigorn, the chapter provides an in-depth overview of Thailand’s copyright landscape, addressing key issues such as copyright subsistence, ownership, exploitation, owners’ rights, and enforcement mechanisms. It also examines Thailand’s current developments in copyright legislation, including amendments to align the law with the WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty (WPPT) and the draft Remuneration Collection Act, both of which could significantly reform Thailand’s copyright and performers’ rights framework and influence the future direction of the media and creative industries.

Thailand Introduces Draft Law Regulating Copyright and Performers’ Rights Royalty Collection

The Thai government has introduced the Draft Act on the Collection of Remuneration for the Use of Copyright and Performers’ Rights, marking a significant step toward reforming the country's intellectual property framework.

This proposed law aims to establish a more transparent, fair, and efficient system for royalty collection and distribution. It directly addresses long-standing challenges in industries like music and entertainment, where complex licensing processes have caused confusion for both rights holders and users.

Key features of the Draft Act include:
💠Mandatory Licensing: Entities collecting royalties (like CMOs) must obtain a license from the DIP.
💠 New Oversight: Establishes a Supervisory Committee to regulate the system and handle disputes.
💠Extended Collective Licensing (ECL): A framework to simplify licensing for large-scale users.
💠Clearer Rights: Covers remuneration for both copyright owners and performers.

The Act is currently a draft and under consideration, but it signals a major shift toward international standards.

Our annual Mock Trial, held once a year, is one of the firm’s most anticipated training events, providing associates and staff with a rare opportunity to step into a real-life courtroom setting and showcase their advocacy skills.

The 2025 Mock Trial centered on a thought-provoking case involving AI-generated music, exploring complex questions on contract interpretation, intellectual property ownership, and the evolving legal challenges of technology in creative industries. The case scenario was developed by Partner Manaswee Wongsuryrat, who designed it to mirror the possible disputes faced in modern litigation practice.

The proceedings were presided over by a distinguished judge panel comprising all partners of the firm, Mr. Nandana Indananda, Mr. Wattanakit Thanarattananukul, and Mr. Manaswee Wongsuryrat, and joined by Mr. Vira Kammee, our newly appointed Of Counsel, a highly respected legal veteran and former co-founder of a leading Thai law firm. On October 29, 2025, Lexpertise Law Firm had the pleasure of welcoming members of the Ten X Club for an exclusive company visit, as part of the TEN X: Transformational Executive Network for Exponential Growth program. The visit aimed to provide participating executives and entrepreneurs with practical legal perspectives to complement their leadership and business transformation journey.

The TEN X initiative is a collaborative effort between the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Board of Trade of Thailand, the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, and DeOne Academy, with learning platform support from Conicle.
