22/02/2023
Dear Sir/Madam,
I have been a member of UIA for more than four years. I had the honor of getting this membership after the death of my father Mr. Gabriel Oussi who also was a member of your esteemed association for more than 35 years. He was also nominated to be the Vice-President of the association.
As you have seen and heard through TV channels of the destructive earthquake which hit both Syria and Turkey on Monday 6 February 2023 causing a very horrible destruction to people and buildings. The damages caused to the infrastructure and the collapse of a great number of buildings and to the cracking of many more of them and the death and injuring of a great number of people are innumerable. Thousands of families have become homeless because of the collapse and cracking of their houses because of this destructive earthquake.
I kindly ask you and raise my voice for humanity to stand and pronounce a rightful word. It is now the high time to lift the unilateral unjust sanctions from Syria and her people. These sanctions never will solve the problem. On contrary, they prolong the time of the destruction and suffering and the catastrophic human situation. More than 90% of the population of Syria have become now under the line of poverty along with the difficulty or rather impossibility of reaching food, water, shelter, cooking and heating fuel, transport, health care, etc... according to the report issued by Mrs. Alina Dohan, Special Rapporteur of the UN after her visit paid to Syria.
Dear colleagues, it is now the high time for all of us to say a rightful word for these calamitized people, to say "No to sanctions". All sanctions imposed on Syria must be lifted. Every person should from his position and location submit this demand to his government and his leadership.
Finally, I assure that UIA must have a stance and say a rightful word. Right is always raised and not raised upon for the sake of lifting all sanctions imposed on Syria in order that this child will be able to live freely and peacefully away from fear and awe (1st picture)..
As well as these two children rescued from the destructive earthquake (2nd picture). Isn’t it right for them to grow up and be raised in a house with large windows? Or the fate has been imposed on them to be born in a country on which cruel sanctions have been imposed and grow up under ruins and destruction?
After all, I should like to say to you that Syria is the cradle of civilizations and religions and that we pray to God to keep it safe and bless it and bless whoever says that “God is Love”.
We look forward to hear of your desirable cooperation and thank you for your expected efforts.
Please accept our full respect and appreciation.
