Kanybil Noon Deng back to liberty
22 September 2020 is joyous day to see the release of Mr. Kanybil Noon Deng, a civil society and peace activist. He was detained by National Security Service-Internal Bureau and kept in detention for 117 days. He was released without charges. Other contradictions aside, as his lawyers, we are grateful that he has gained his liberty.
We call on authorities to always protect the Constitutional rights of everyone in South Sudan and if one is suspected of any crimes, he or she should be charged and tried as required by the Constitution, civil and criminal procedures of South Sudan.
