ACLS The Association of Criminal Lawyers of Singapore was registered on 3 August 2004 as a separate organisation for members of the Bar practising criminal law. Mr.

ACLS aims to promote the interests of criminal law practitioners and to contribute to the development of criminal law in Singapore. ACLS runs many pro bono initiatives offering legal advice and assistance to the needy, including Remand Clinics at the Subordinate Courts of Singapore and the Community Courts Assistance Scheme. The Association also publishes PROBONO, a quarterly newsletter which has

been warmly-received by the Bench and the Bar. Members of the ACLS actively support the Community Court and the Bail Court and offer their services pro bono to deserving cases. To date, our members have handled approximotely 400 cases at both the Community Court and the Bail Court. Subhas Anandan is the founding member and the first president of the Association of Criminal Lawyers of Singapore.
