We had the great honour to interview Arto Joensuu, a renowned digital change agent from Finland. Arto is a former CEO of Dubizzle and the founder of Working in Digital.

He shares the importance of uncovering the core purpose and values of a startup before diving into strategy and ex*****on. Arto's philosophy of "Good things with good people" reinforces the understanding that digital triumph stems not only derives from adopting cutting-edge technologies but also from fostering purpose-driven cultures and collaborating with talented individuals.

Arto also beautifully compares a startup to a tree, where the roots represent the WHY (purpose) and WHO (values/culture). These dimensions are the roots that feed (and define everything) that a startup does. The HOW is then more of the strategic framework which is created to align the company efforts towards achieving certain business objectives. This forms the trunk of the tree and directs the energy and growth toward the branches and leaves. The WHAT is then the collection of day-to-day activities that are conducted all across the organization on a day-to-day basis.
