The NUS Law Mooting & Debating Club (MDC) is a student-led organization dedicated to promoting oratorical skills and the passion for mooting, debating and advocacy among law students . Many distinguished members of the legal profession, including senior counsel and judges, were once top mooters at NUS. Every year, MDC organises a variety of different moots in collaboration with Singapore's leading law firms, including, the BA Mallal Moot (Allen & Gledhill), the Drew & Napier Advocacy Cup, WongPartnership International Commercial Arbitration Moot and the Gowling WLG IP Moot. Jessup Moot, Willem C. Vis International Arbitration Moot, Nuremberg Moot Court Competition, Asia Cup, International Maritime Arbitration Moot, Oxford IP Moot and many others. MDC also regularly organises structured talks and workshops, conducted by experienced seniors, MDC alumni and practicing lawyers to increase the quality of our mooters and provide valuable opportunities for students to refresh and polish their skills.

[Inter-American Human Rights Moot]

We are thrilled to celebrate NUS Law’s excellent performance at the Inter-American Human Rights Moot in May 2026, where team members Arielle Goh Hsin Ern ‘29 and Tan York Yang ‘28 finished as Semi-Finalists! 🤩

“This was our first international moot and foray into public international law for the both of us. The Inter-American Human Rights Moot is a trilingual competition, with both our preliminary and semi-final rounds conducted in English and Spanish/Portuguese. Our submissions were simultaneously interpreted to the bench of 5-7 judges, while opposing submissions and questions from the judge’s were translated for us.

This is only the second time that NUS Law has advanced this far in the competition’s history, with us placing as Semi-Finalists. We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to our coach, Manish Chamiraj ’24, Associate Professor Eleanor Wong ‘85, and seniors Emmanuel Wong Kai Xuan ’27 and TJ Rideshkumar ‘27 for benching the team.”

It has been a fulfilling year of organising events, competitions and training sessions. However, the time to pass the baton on has come. After weeks of intense preparation and rigorous oral rounds, the 18th WongPartnership International Commercial Arbitration Moot (ICAM) 2026 has officially come to a close.

Huge congratulations to our Champion, Chin Guan Wei, for an incredible performance in the final!
