Had a chat with my father today. He was telling me about how the stock markets are going down and are in the red.
Advised me to be careful and don't anyhow buy stocks or shares.
Major US stocks are doing badly.
Even Shopee's parent company lost quite a significant value of its stock price - from as high $230 to now $80. More than 70% of its value is gone.
For me, my father is someone whom I respect and seek advice from because he has been in the business world even before I was born.
So I take his advice very seriously and with a lot of weight.
I also asked for his thoughts on Singapore real estate, whether prices will crash or not?
His reply was a strong NO - he feels that prices will be stable in the long run. He thinks the various cooling measures that has been put in place has made the Singapore property market quite a safe place.
As an agent for the past 10 years, of course I feel the same. Quite unlikely for prices to drop by 70%.
But to hear from my father, it is nice to feel validated.
What do you think? Does the stock market affect the property market?
