What’s next for TechLaw.Fest? 🎥

In 2027, TechLaw.Fest enters a new chapter with the launch of LegalWeek Asia, in partnership with TechLaw.Fest, on 28 and 29 September in Singapore.

We caught up with Yeong Zee Kin, Chief Executive of the Singapore Academy of Law, and Nick Brailey, Chief Executive of Law.com, to hear what excites them most about bringing the two platforms together and what the legal community can look forward to next year.

𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘀, 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗟𝗮𝘄.𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲!

Over two packed days, conversations, connections and ideas brought the legal and technology communities together to exchange perspectives on the ideas and developments shaping the future of law.

This year, TechLaw.Fest welcomed more than 2,000 participants from over 30 countries, with:

• 84 sessions across the conference, Tech Talk and Tech Bytes programmes
• 58 sponsors and exhibitors across two exhibition halls, showcasing a wide range of technologies and solutions

From discussions on AI, innovation and the future of legal practice to new partnerships and technologies on the exhibition floor, TechLaw.Fest 2026 was a reflection of a legal community looking ahead and shaping what comes next. And the journey continues.

𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗟𝗮𝘄.𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲!

Over two days, lawyers, technologists, policymakers, business leaders and innovators came together to explore how law can provide a trusted foundation for navigating change.

Day 1 set the tone with welcome remarks by The Honourable Justice Aidan Xu from the Supreme Court of Singapore, an Opening Address by Senior Minister of State for Law and Transport Murali Pillai SC, and a keynote by The Honourable Hon Judith Collins KC, President of Law Commission of New Zealand. We also launched the SAL Wills Registry, signed an MOU with the Institute for Human Resource Professionals (IHRP) and Singapore Mediation Centre, and a separate MOU with Jus Mundi.

Day 2 opened with The Honourable Justice Kwek Mean Luck from the Supreme Court of Singapore, and Ms Sarah Sackman KC, Minister of State, Ministry of Justice, United Kingdom. Discussions spanned LawNet’s latest developments, AI, digital assets, intellectual property and access to justice.

A defining milestone was SAL’s three-year partnership with Law.com, backed by Centellic, to launch Legalweek Asia, in partnership with TechLaw.Fest.

The energy continued with The Lion’s Pit, presented by Ministry of Law, Singapore and The Law Society of Singapore, and the launch of the Information and Communications Technology Law in Singapore (Second Edition) by authors Warren B. Chik and Saw Cheng Lim.

The Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) and Law.com have signed a three year partnership agreement to launch 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮 in Singapore.

Building on the established platform of TechLaw.Fest, LegalWeek Asia will bring together international legal, technology and business communities for two days of learning, thought leadership, dealmaking and the showcasing of innovation.

Across 11 editions, TechLaw.Fest has welcomed more than 26,000 participants and established itself as a recognised event on the international legal technology conference calendar.

This partnership marks the next stage of that journey, combining TechLaw.Fest’s strong foundation in Singapore and the region with Law.com’s international network and reach to create an even larger global platform for the legal community.

We look forward to welcoming the legal community to Singapore for LegalWeek Asia, in partnership with TechLaw.Fest, on 28 and 29 September 2027.

The momentum is building on Day 2 of TechLaw.Fest 2026! 🚀

The day began with a Welcome Address by The Honourable Justice Kwek Mean Luck, Supreme Court of Singapore, who highlighted the latest enhancements to Singapore’s legal research platform, LawNet. This was followed by a keynote address by Ms Sarah Sackman KC, Minister of State, Ministry of Justice, United Kingdom, on “Modernising Justice: Innovation, AI and the Future of the Legal Industry”.

A key moment today was the signing of a three-year partnership agreement between the Singapore Academy of Law and Law.com, backed by Centellic. The partnership will see the launch of Legalweek Asia in Singapore, in September 2027.

Across the stages and exhibition floor, participants are exploring the latest LawNet developments and engaging with timely conversations on AI’s business value, synthetic media and intellectual property disputes, digital assets, and technology’s role in expanding access to justice.

There is more to come this afternoon, including The Lion’s Pit, presented by the and the Law Society of Singapore, where finalists will pitch their solutions to real world legal challenges. Participants can also look forward to the launch of Information and Communications Technology Law in Singapore (Second Edition).

You’ve made a Will. But will your loved ones know where to find it when the time comes?

The Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) has launched the Wills Repository Service, enabling individuals to securely deposit a digital copy of their Will with SAL through participating law firms.

The new service builds on SAL’s Wills Registry, which records whether a Will exists, who prepared it and where the original signed Will is kept. With the Wills Repository Service, authorised persons can also access a securely stored digital copy when it is needed. Together, these services provide greater assurance that a Will can be located and its contents accessed during what can already be a difficult time for families. Digital copies are protected by encryption and strict access controls, with access limited to persons nominated and authorised by the individual.

To encourage adoption, SAL is offering complimentary deposits through participating law firms from 9 September 2026 to 31 March 2027.

Alongside the launch, SAL has released a short public education video, The Last Sign, that uses a fictional and dramatised scenario to highlight the importance of ensuring that loved ones can locate relevant Will information when it is needed. The conversations are already in full swing, bringing together lawyers, technologists, business leaders and policymakers to explore how the profession can navigate change with confidence.

The Honourable Justice Aidan Xu, Supreme Court of Singapore, welcomed participants this morning, followed by an Opening Address by Senior Minister of State for Law and Transport, Mr Murali Pillai SC. The Honourable Hon Judith Collins KC, President of New Zealand’s Law Commission, then delivered the keynote, “Governing with Trust in the Age of AI”.

We were honoured to welcome The Honourable Chief Justice Rony Govinden of the Judiciary of Seychelles, alongside Sarah Sackman KC MP, Minister of State for Courts and Legal Services, Ministry of Justice, United Kingdom, and The Honourable Doug Downey KC, Attorney General of Ontario, Canada.

A key moment today was the signing of an MoU between the Singapore Academy of Law, Institute for Human Resource Professionals (IHRP) and Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC) to support job redesign and workforce transformation as technology reshapes legal work.

SAL also signed a separate MoU with Jus Mundi to expand the international reach of Academy Publishing’s arbitration titles and promote the exchange of expertise and thought leadership, strengthening access to Singapore legal knowledge globally.
