Since 1964, EMS Elektronmusikstudion is the centre for Swedish electroacoustic music and sound-art. EMS is run as an independent part of Musikverket/Swedish Performing Arts Agency. Besides making professional studios available for the production of electroacoustic music and sound-art, EMS’ aim is to support artistic development of electroacoustic music and its integration within other artistic are

as. EMS represents electroacoustic music from Sweden in various international contexts and sees as one of its main tasks to act as an informer, both nationally and internationally. Foreign composers regularly come to EMS to work and may be granted a working period by submitting a project application. The music of electroacoustic composer Bekah Simms possesses an enormous sonic palette: timbrally vibrant and ranging from superabundant electronic grotesquerie to lush microtonal waves of sound, their varied musical output has been heralded as “cacophonous, jarring, oppressive — and totally engrossing!” (CBC Music) and “visceral contemporary music that enfolds external inspirations with dazzling rigor and logic” (Peter Margasak).

Bekah’s music has been commissioned by and performed at major festivals across Europe and North America including Wien Modern, Time:Spans, Gaudeamus Newmuziekwrek, ACHT BRÜCKEN, Music on Main, and New Music Dublin. Their acousmatic music has been presented at two consecutive World New Music Days (Faroe Islands and Portugal) as well as the Sound/Image festival in London.  Bekah has also been the recipient of over 40 awards, competitive selections, nominations, and prizes, including a 2024 Guggenheim Fellowship, the 2019 Barlow Prize, and the 2023 JUNO Award for Classical Composition of the Year.

Bekah is a Lecturer in Composition at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

LTY (Lai Tsung-Yun) is a Taiwanese sound and media artist working across modular synthesis, algorithmic composition, and real-time signal processing. His practice explores the relationship between sound, perception, and space, creating immersive sonic environments where noise, electronic signals, and acoustic gestures intersect.

He is the curator of Lacking Sound Festival, one of Taiwan’s longest-running platforms for experimental sound and sound art, and has played an important role in fostering international exchange and expanding the visibility of experimental sound culture in Taiwan. Through both performance and curatorial practice, Lai investigates how sound can shape sensory experience and map emotional and social terrains.

Working across song cycles and electro-acoustic composition for solo performance, ensembles, and site-responsive contexts, Jules Reidy creates music that explores devotional love, transcendence, and dissolution. Their practice evokes states of uncanniness, dissociation, imagination, and the void.

Their current collaborations include projects with Sun Kit, Judith Hamann, Andrea Belfi, Sam Dunscombe, David Grubbs, Jan St. Werner and Ivan Cheng.

They’re also a member of the Pitch and Oren Ambarchi’s various large ensembles.

They’ve recently written for JACK Quartet, Zinc&Copper and the Australian Art Orchestra.

They’ve released on Thrill Jockey, Black Truffle, Shelter Press, Editions Mego and Longform Editions.

They are originally from Australia, and are currently based in Berlin.

Tuce Alba (1996, Turkey) is an architect, musician, and sound artist based in Berlin. Her practice focuses on sound as a material for constructing temporal and spatial experiences. Her works investigate slow transformation, minimal movement, and the physicality of sonic texture. In live performances, she builds raw, heavy noise, distortion, deep bass, and feedback.

Inspired by brutalist architecture, she treats sound as a solid form; breaking and reshaping it in real time. No melody, no softness, just pure energy. Each performance is thus both a spiritual and physical encounter, meant to be felt as much as heard.

Abigail Toll is a sound artist and composer producing drone-based electroacoustic and chamber music. From roots in voice and classical flute, her practice mobilizes resonance and tuning to probe trance-states and structures of power. Her works are realised as solo, ensemble and collaborative performance as well as sculptural and multi-channel installation.

Toll’s debut studio album Matrices of Vision (Shelter Press, 2023) was presented as an ensemble commission by KW Institute of Contemporary Art, and performed at the Klosterruine by Rebecca Lane, Lucy Railton, and Evelyn Saylor. Toll holds an MA in Electroacoustic Composition from the KMH–Royal College of Music, Stockholm and her second studio album Idol (Superpang, 2025), nominated for the German Record Critic’s Prize, was accompanied by Lick the Walls to Understand Echoes, an audio-reactive installation commissioned by HOLON Berlin, developed in collaboration with media artist Anton Filatov.

Toll’s music was recently included on a BBC Late Junction mixtape curated by Japanese electronic legend, Nobekazu Takemura. Her work has been presented internationally at cultural centres, DIY venues and festivals including Heart of Noise – The Ferdinandeum: Tyrolean State Museum (AU), GMEA (FR), Suoni per il Popolo Festival, Montreal (CA), l’Ancienne Belgique (BEL), Kunsthal Gent (BEL), Gibanja, Kontejner (CR), Pawilon (PL), UT Connewitz (DE) and Volksbuehne (DE) among others.

Iver Kim is a composer, visual artist, and intermedia artist working across electroacoustic composition, field recording, and audiovisual installation. With a background in fine art and music technology, her practice approaches sound as a spatial and painterly medium, occasionally drawing from classical music and instrumental performance within electronic contexts.

Her work centers on subtle and often barely perceptible sonic events, small vibrations, fragile gestures, and the thresholds between noise, tone, and silence. Engaging with themes of “impossible dialogues” between nature, humanity, and the digital, she works within unstable in-between states where perception shifts and time stretches, exploring how minimal sonic matter can unfold into immersive spatial and temporal experiences through field recordings, analog synthesis, and live electronics.

Her work has been presented in cities including Seoul, Osaka, Münster, Copenhagen, London, Amsterdam, and Utrecht, as well as in spatial audio contexts such as ICLC (International Conference on Live Coding) using WFS Collider and performances with 4DSOUND.

Iver Kim’s residency is kindly supported by Arts Council Korea - ARKO, 한국문화예술위원회
