.abion has made it through Reveal Day and into the next stage of ICANN’s 2026 new gTLD programme.🎉

Reveal Day is an important milestone in our journey to securing our new dotBrand TLD. ICANN published the applications that have passed its initial administrative checks, revealing which strings have been applied for and where multiple applications are competing for the same string. The final list will come in a couple of weeks, but Reveal Day is still a significant development in the 2026 new gTLD programme.

With 1,616 applications confirmed as proceeding forward in the 2026 round, Reveal Day also gives us our first clear view of the wider dotBrand landscape and a fascinating look at where organisations see the biggest opportunities. Some interesting initial points include:

1. 1,605 strings in total - 979 of them were unique strings
2. There are 262 strings in contention as of now – the leaders are .agent (13), .bit (11), .api (10), .brand (10) and .hub (10)
3. I show 333 dotBrand applications across 247 applicants – no actual contention sets in the dotBrand applications – each dotBrand string was unique
4. 85% of total applications from North America and Europe
5. Some of the large dotBrand applicants include Google (20), Meta (12), Amazon (8) and OpenAI (5)
6. Celebrities also got in on the action – Taylor Swift applying for .taylorswift

What happens next?💡

The next stages include the opportunity for applicants to pivot to their replacement string, further string and applicant evaluation, followed by objection filing and contention resolution where multiple applicants are competing for the same TLD. Successful applicants will ultimately move towards contracting, technical onboarding and delegation of their new TLD.

That’s a wrap on our Abion Summit 2026. ✨

After a few days in the beautiful Swedish town of Ystad, we’re all back in the office with plenty to build on. From conversations on what's next for Abion, to new ideas, new connections and, of course, a lot of fun.

Here’s to 10 Years of Abion China 🎉

This month marks an important milestone for our Chinese office as they turned 10! A decade of growth, achievement, and an exceptional team.

From just four people in a loft office next to CNIPA in 2016, the China team has grown into a 15-strong team, now proudly based in its own office in Beijing’s Chaoyang District.

Over the past decade, the team has built a strong track record in trademark protection and enforcement, supporting more than 1,000 client portfolios in mainland China while also handling matters across Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. With an 80%+ success rate in trademark dispute procedures, their expertise has also earned them recognition within the CNIPA rankings as a Top Tier Agency.

💚What makes this milestone especially meaningful is the stability and dedication of the team. Many have been with Abion China for more than six years, with some there since the very beginning. Together, the team has built the stability, expertise and trust that allow us to protect our clients’ most important brands.

Abion China has also grown into an important part of our global network.
