С 8 по 28 февраля 2021 года международная юридическая фирма White & Case LLC и юридическая фирма Threefold Legal Advisors LLC проведут Российский национальный чемпионат Конкурса по международному праву имени Филипа Джессопа. Студенческие команды из 28 российских вузов примут участие в виртуальных судебных раундах. Оценивать их ораторские способности и знания в сфере международного права будут партнеры и юристы известных международных юридических фирм, а также крупнейших российских компаний, юристы Международного Суда ООН, Европейского суда по правам человека, Международного уголовного суда и других международных судебных органов, преподаватели и профессора ведущих российских и зарубежных университетов.

Дело 2021 года посвящено актуальным вопросам глобальной пандемии, а также обязательств и мер реагирования государства на ее распространение. Кроме того, оно затронет вопросы юрисдикции Международного Суда, запроса на предоставление политического убежища для ученого-диссидента, а также ответственности государств за подозрительный взрыв воздушного судна.

В этом сезоне Конкурс имени Джессопа проходит полностью в дистанционном формате. Более 700 зарегистрированных команд со всего мира, включая российские команды, примут участие в виртуальных международных раундах Конкурса с 13 марта по 18 апреля 2021 года.

Результаты Российского национального чемпионата Конкурса имени Джессопа будут опубликованы на официальной странице Jessup Russia на Фейсбуке (https://www.facebook.com/jessup.russia).

В 2021 году Российский национальный чемпионат Конкурса имени Джессопа отмечает 20-летие. Администрация российских раундов приглашает всех участников российского Джессопа двух прошедших десятилетий поделиться своими воспоминаниями о Конкурсе для публикации в социальных сетях. On 9 April, 2018 Maria Issaeva will participate in a discussion "Russia and the European Court on Human Rights 20 years after signing the Convention" held at the Wilson Center's Kennan Institute in Washington, DC.

The panel, which will also include Marina Agaltsova (Human Rights Center of the UC Berkeley School of Law) and Lauri Mälksoo (University of Tartu), will discuss what socialization has taken place in Russia as a result of its participation in the European Convention on Human Rights using the findings of the recent book "Russia and the European Court of Human Rights: the Strasbourg Effect", Cambridge University Press, 2018 (Mälksoo and Benedek (eds)).

31 January – 4 February 2018 White & Case LLC and Threefold Legal Advisors LLC are organising the Russian National Championship of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. Students from 31 universities from all over Russia will come to Moscow to participate in the Competition.

This year’s problem addresses the validity of interstate arbitral awards, the capture of a marine vessel, the breach of nuclear disarmament obligations, and the conduct of naval warfare.

The Russian Final Round Judges are:
- William Burke-White, Richard Perry Professor and Inaugural Director of Perry World House at the University of Pennsylvania;
- Anastasia Kushleyko, Regional Legal Advisor for the integration and promotion of international humanitarian law in Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the International Committee of the Red Cross;
- Geir Ulfstein, Professor of International Law and Deputy Director of the research centre PluriCourts at the University of Oslo.

Preliminary and Advanced Rounds will take place at the Law Faculty of the Moscow State University between 31 January and 3 February (1 Leninskiye Gory, bldgs. 13-14). The Final Round and the Award Ceremony will be hosted by the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) on 4 February 2018 (76 Prospekt Vernadskogo).

Call for abstracts: "The 1917 Russian Revolution and Its Impact on Law: International and Comparative Perspectives", St Petersburg State University, 21 October 2017

Abstracts are accepted until 15 September

The workshop is intended to bring together Russian and international academics and practitioners in the fields of law (international, constitutional or otherwise), international relations, history, sociology, philosophy and political science in St Petersburg - the city where the Revolution started - and talk about the influence of the 1917 Russian Revolution on various aspects of law, be it international law or otherwise.

Working language of the workshop: English.

The event is organized with support from the European Society of International Law and Threefold Legal Advisors LLC.

Team from the Law Faculty of the Higher School of Economics came first in the 16th Russian National Championship of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. Five teams will represent Russia at the International Rounds of the Jessup Competition this April.

Команда Факультета права НИУ Высшая школа экономики занимает первое место в 16-ом Российском национальном чемпионате Конкурса по международному праву имени Филипа Джессопа. Пять российских команд представят Россию на Международных раундах Конкурса им. Джессопа в апреле этого года.

TLA wins the case of four applicants in Lashmankin and others at the European Court of Human Rights which concerns multiple violations of freedom of assembly by Russia. The compensation awarded to the applicants represented by TLA has amounted to EUR 35,000.

Победа команды TLA в деле Лашманкин и другие в Европейском Суде по правам человека о нарушении права на свободу собраний. Совокупный размер компенсации заявителей, которых представляла наша команда, составил 35000 евро.

Европейский суд по правам человека признал действия российских властей при согласовании массовых мероприятий ограничивающими право на свободу собраний. Об этом говорится в решении по жалобе 23 россиян, среди которых правозащитник Лев Пономарев и лидер «Левого фронта» Сергей Удальцов.
