New restrictions come into force on Saturday / Masks become mandatory again everywhere and only medical and FFP2 DOCUMENT are allowed.
The Government approved the Decision on the 30-day extension of the state of alert on the territory of Romania, starting with January 8, as well as the measures that will be applied during it, in the context of wave 5 of the COVID-9 pandemic.
The normative act is based on the measures adopted on Wednesday by the decision of the National Committee for Emergency Situations.
Shops and restaurants can remain open until 22:00.
There will be limitations for the activity of restaurants, for shows or sporting events, depending on the infection rate in each locality. With an incidence of COVID of less than 1 per thousand inhabitants, most activities will be allowed at a capacity of 50% for people who are vaccinated, sick or have a negative COVID test. At incidence over 3 per thousand, the capacity will be 30%.

Main changes:
Extension of the alert status by 30 days throughout the country, starting with January 8, 2022
Wearing a medical mask or FFP2 in all enclosed and open spaces. FFP means "filter face" and is a European standard for mask efficiency. This type of mask filters at least 94% of all aerosols, including viruses in the air such as SARS-CoV-2, authorities say.
Exceptions to wearing a medical mask or FFP2:
Children under the age of 5;
People who are alone in the office;
TV presenters and their guests, provided that the distance of 3 meters between people is respected;
Representatives of religious denominations, during services, provided that the distance of 3 meters between persons is observed;
Speakers in enclosed or open spaces provided that the distance of at least 3 meters between them and any other person in the audience is observed;
People who engage in intense physical activity and / or demanding work conditions (high temperatures, high humidity, etc.) or sports activities.
