Platzer, LLC is a law studio dedicated to the practice of the legal profession in almost every area of civil law with particular focus on the following two areas: (1) surety and property and liability insurance claims and litigation and; (2) representation of technology startups, including commencement of operations, revision and drafting of agreements related to software licensing, labor and empl
oyment issues, privacy and security issues, intellectual property matters and tax incentives and decrees. Platzer, LLC's founding member, Monique Platzer, is a lawyer and licensed computer engineer who has 3 insurance designations: CPCU, CIC and AFSB. Monique Platzer Vélez has been working extensively on surety and insurance matters for years. As a result, she has substantive experience representing surety companies in working out solutions and resolving problems arising from contract, commercial, fidelity and miscellaneous bonds. She has particular knowledge and experience working out performance and payment bond claim solutions, and enforcing the sureties' indemnity, salvage and subrogation rights to be repaid any losses incurred under bonds. Although a relatively young lawyer, she has already dealt with complex surety, litigation and appellate matters, and has earned the respect of courts and colleagues. She has handled matters before the U.S District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance of Puerto Rico and state courts at all levels, including over 15 appeals representing insurance companies, most of which resulted in recorded decisions. She has three insurance related certifications: Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (June 2014), Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding (March 2013), and Certified Insurance Counselor (September 2014). She completed all 3 in less than 3 years (October 2012 through September 2014).
