A proposed change to Puerto Rico’s tax landscape. 🇵🇷

House Bill 501, approved by the Puerto Rico House, would create an optional 10% special tax rate on certain interest, dividend, and long-term capital-gain income for qualifying Puerto Rico residents, estates, and trusts beginning with tax years after December 31, 2025. The measure has not yet become law and remains subject to the legislative process.

For investors, property owners, and professionals across Puerto Rico, it’s a proposal worth keeping on the radar as it moves forward.

📢 ¡Posible gran noticia contributiva para los residentes de Puerto Rico!

La Cámara de Representantes de PR acaba de aprobar un proyecto de ley (Proyecto de la Cámara 501) que reduciría la contribución sobre ganancias de capital a largo plazo, intereses y dividendos del actual 15%–24% a una tasa fija de 10% para los residentes de toda la vida — no solo para los inversionistas de la Ley 60.

Todavía no es ley — aún tiene que pasar por el Senado y ser firmado por el Gobernador — pero es un paso importante, y busca nivelar el terreno entre los residentes de siempre de Puerto Rico y los nuevos residentes inversionistas que ya disfrutan de tasas preferenciales.

📢 Big potential tax news for Puerto Rico residents!

The PR House of Representatives just approved a bill (House Bill 501) that would lower the tax on long-term capital gains, interest, and dividends from the current 15%–24% down to a flat 10% for everyday residents — not just Act 60 investors.

It's not law yet — it still has to pass the Senate and get the Governor's signature — but it's a big step, and it's meant to level the playing field between longtime Puerto Rico residents and newer investor residents who already get lower rates.

We'll keep you posted as this moves forward. If you have questions about how it could affect your real estate or investment plans, feel free to reach out — happy to talk it through.
