📢 IMPORTANT UPDATE: Foreigners Working in Poland Without a Work Permit (2026) 🇵🇱
As of 1 June 2025, a new Act regulating the employment of foreigners in Poland is in force. Based on this Act, a new regulation issued by the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy entered into force on 1 December 2025, expanding the list of foreigners who may work without a work permit or a declaration of entrusting work.
🔹 Who can work without a permit?
The regulation lists 31 categories, including among others:
✅ participants in EU and international aid programs
✅ foreign language teachers and teachers of subjects taught in a foreign language
✅ foreign journalists accredited by the MFA
✅ artists, performers, lecturers (up to 30 days/year)
✅ athletes and persons working at international sports events
✅ clergy and members of religious orders
✅ full-time students in Poland
✅ interns and trainees under study programs
✅ volunteers (including European Voluntary Service)
✅ researchers and research staff
✅ medical professionals (doctors, nurses, paramedics, pharmacists, physiotherapists)
✅ foreign employees delegated for short-term technical work (up to 3 months/year)
✅ domestic staff of diplomats
📌 Key transitional provisions to note:
🕒 Until 31 May 2026
Foreigners who were previously exempt under the 2015 regulation may continue working without a permit for 6 months from 1 December 2025.
🎓 Important for students!
From 1 December 2025 to 30 June 2026, full-time students at:
• non-public academic universities, or
• public vocational universities not yet approved under Article 144 of the Act on Foreigners
👉 may still work without a work permit.
