Poland has become a leader among Eastern European countries in attracting foreign direct investments in the economy. Foreign capital is interested in stable economic growth and ease of doing business.

Stable economic growth
Polish economy is one of the fastest growing among European countries. It is almost the only country on the continent that has successfully resisted the global economic crisis. The state budget of Poland is in much better condition than the budgets of other EU States.

Large sales market
Poland's domestic market is one of the largest in Europe, with almost 40 million people living in the country. In terms of population this state ranks sixth in the EU and the first in Eastern Europe.

A skilled and competitive workforce
According to the Organization for economic cooperation and development (OECD), there are more than 430 higher education institutions in Poland, where about 1.4 million students study, including more than 60 thousand foreigners from about 150 countries.

Grants from the European Union
From 2014 to 2020, Poland has received a total of more than 120 billion euros from Brussels in the form of EU subsidies: over 82 billion euros will be transferred under the so-called cohesion policy, and another 32 billion will come from the agricultural policy. In 2007-2013, the country has already received more than 100 billion euros from the EU, including 68 billion in the framework of the cohesion policy.

Well-developed infrastructure
Among the significant advantages of Poland, we can highlight the constantly developing infrastructure: roads and Railways, air and sea transport, a wide network of cargo warehouses and terminals. Several busy international transport routes with a total length of 5 thousand km pass through Poland (Berlin-Lviv, Berlin-Moscow, Bialystok-Prague, Gdansk — Cieszyn, Gdansk — Lviv).

Here are some facts about taxation in Poland:
SOCIAL AND HEALTH CONTRIBUTIONS - COMPANY
Social and Health contributions owed by Polish Employees: 19.21 % – 22.41 %.
REAL ESTATE TAX
The maximum rate of the business land tax is PLN 0.91/m2 (in case of private land it is PLN 0.48/m2).
The building tax (for business space): PLN 23.10/m2.
The tax for non-business buildings: PLN 0.77/m2.
TRANSACTION TAX (PCC)
Certain civil law transactions are subject to this tax in Poland, such as (but not limited to): sale of things or rights, exchange of things or rights, loan, mortgage.
Typically, the tax is levied as a percentage of the transaction’s value – e.g. in case of a real estate sale, the tax amounts to 2% of the property’s market value.
TAX LOSSES
Tax loss from business activities may only be offset against income derived from those types of activities.
Losses that cannot be set off may be carried forward for a maximum of 5 years (in a given year, at most 50% of the loss can be utilized). In certain cases, it is possible to offset losses of foreign companies.

Lawful immigration
In order to immigrate to Poland you need to follow all the requirements laid out in the immigration laws of the Republic of Poland. There are several possibilities, depending on the purpose of your visit. You will need a visa or Schengen visa in order to visit the country. If you acquire a residence permit via options listed above, you may travel to any Schengen country without an additional visa. If you plan to immigrate to Europe and reside in Poland for a long period of time – you need a residence permit, which can be acquired on the following grounds: establishing a company in Poland, getting an education or getting a job.

The main immigration laws for immigrants from non-EU states in the Republic of Poland are the Aliens Act and the Act on granting protection to aliens within the territory of the Republic of Poland.

The 10th article of the Aliens Act demonstrates that immigration policy in Poland is friendlier than in some other countries. However, despite that fact, it may require lawyer assistance to obtain a residence permit: An alien who applies for the granting or prolongation of visa, the granting of the residence permit for a fixed period, the permit to settle or the long-term resident’s EC residence permit shall be informed in the language understandable to him/her about the procedure and its principles as well as about rights granted to him/her and obligations imposed on him/her.
