⚠️Recently, the Poznań Police have intensified checks on foreigners regarding the possession of valid documents (see article in first comment).⚠️
For this reason, we remind you:
According to the provisions of Polish law, every foreigner staying on the territory of the Republic of Poland is required to carry a document confirming their identity and the legality of their stay – this can be, for example:
- a passport
- a residence card
- a visa
- a certificate of submission of an application for a temporary residence permit.
Failure to present such a document during a check (e.g., by the Border Guard or the Police) may result in:
- a fine (most commonly up to 500 PLN)
- an order to present the document within a specified deadline
- and in some cases, even detention until identity is verified.
Therefore, always carry a valid identity document with you – preferably the original, or at least a copy (although the original is strongly recommended).
If you have any questions about the legality of your stay or problems with your documents – contact us. We will help you understand your rights and obligations in Poland!💜
