FBR has now given a major relief to taxpayers who missed the FY2025 filing deadline and were facing a hefty late filing surcharge (up to Rs. 25,000 for individuals, Rs. 50,000 for AOPs, and Rs. 1,00,000 for companies) to get onto the Active Taxpayer List (ATL); under this new update, any FY2025 late filer who now files their Income Tax Return for FY2026 will automatically become an Active Filer in the system without paying that surcharge at all, making this the easiest and cheapest way to fix your filer status, unlock lower withholding tax on bank transactions, property, and vehicle registration, and avoid future penalties β€” so if you're still not on the ATL, this video explains exactly how to take advantage of this window before it closes.
