“Sir, it’s just a simple return… just need to enter values.”
Ah yes — the classic opening line. 😅
A few days ago, someone called me regarding their Income Tax Return.
His first question:
"Bhai, I need to file my return — what will you charge?"
I responded:
"Sir, I’ll need to review your income details first. If you can share the details, I’ll guide you accordingly."
But then came the reply I hear too often:
"It’s a very simple return — just need to enter values."
Just enter values?
Honestly, I felt like saying:
"Then please go ahead and enter them yourself, sir. We didn’t spend years learning how to fill boxes in IRIS."
But of course, I didn’t say that.
Because the truth is:
📌 Filing an Income Tax Return isn’t about just entering values.
It’s about understanding:
-Income sources (salary, freelance, foreign, rental, etc.)
-Applicable tax laws, deductions, exemptions
-Declaring assets, liabilities, and expenses accurately
-Avoiding tax audit triggers
-Ensuring compliance with FBR’s constantly evolving rules
It’s not data entry. It’s professional analysis and legal responsibility.
✅ So let’s stop treating tax filing like filling out a simple form.
Just like you wouldn’t want an accountant doing your surgery —
You shouldn’t do your tax return with guesswork. If you need assistance, always contact a professional -- and cooperate.
