🚨 Big Change in FBR Salaried Persons Income Tax Return 2025-26! 🚨
The FBR has released the draft form for the annual income tax return for the tax year 2025-26.
Several changes have been made in the draft, but one very important change has been made for salaried persons.
Now every salaried person must provide the NTN of his employer while filing his tax return.
Now the question is why has the FBR made this change?
The main purpose is to catch those who wrongly declare business income as salary income.
For example, some people were actually doing business but declared their business income as salary income and paid less tax on this income.
Because the tax rates on business income are higher than on salary income.
Example:
Business Income = Rs. 1,200,000
Tax Payable = Rs. 90,000
Same Income Shown as Salary
Tax Payable = Only Rs. 6,000
What will the FBR do now?
If the taxpayer really works in this company, then this information will be easily cross-checked and verified.
But if a taxpayer has been given a wrong NTN number, then its verification will not be possible, because the relevant record of this NTN will not exist.
Similarly, if the NTN number is correct and genuine, but in reality, the person is not an employee of this company and the NTN of another person or company has been used just to save tax so that less tax has to be paid on the income, then this thing will also be traced.
