AR & Co. – Advocates & Corporate Counsels is pleased to share a significant relief secured for our client before the Honourable Lahore High Court, Lahore, in a matter arising under the Payment of Wages Act, 1936.

The case raises an important issue of labour-law jurisdiction: whether an employee performing managerial and supervisory functions falls within the category of persons entitled to invoke the jurisdiction of the Authority under the Payment of Wages Act. It was argued on behalf of our client that an objection concerning inherent lack of jurisdiction goes to the very root of the proceedings and can be raised at any stage.

The Honourable High Court issued notice and suspended the operation of the impugned orders until the next date of hearing, providing important protection to our client while these jurisdictional questions are considered.

Successful Relief Secured Before the Lahore High Court

AR & Co – Advocates & Corporate Counsels is pleased to share another significant result achieved in protecting our client’s legal and financial interests.

In proceedings arising from a suit for specific performance of an agreement to sell, the learned Civil Court had directed our client to deposit the remaining consideration amount of Rs. 5,45,00,000/- (Rs. 5.45 Crore).

Our legal team challenged the said direction before the Lahore High Court, advancing the position that the amount already paid, when combined with the further deposit directed by the Civil Court, would exceed the total agreed consideration for the disputed property.

Upon hearing our submissions, the Hon’ble Lahore High Court found that the question raised required consideration and granted interim protection by suspending the operation of the impugned order to the extent of the direction requiring payment of Rs. 5.45 Crore, until the next date of hearing.

This relief demonstrates the importance of timely and strategic legal intervention, particularly in high-value property disputes, agreements to sell, specific performance proceedings, and complex contractual litigation.

"A significant relief secured for our client in a billing dispute with LESCO.

The Electric Inspector, Lahore Region-II, has declared a Rs.109,977 detection bill void, unjustified and without legal effect, holding that the impugned meter’s billing accuracy was found to be satisfactory and that there was no legal basis for charging the alleged billing difference. The respondents have consequently been directed to overhaul the consumer’s account and adjust any excess amount recovered in future bills.
Our firm successfully represented the client in the proceedings, securing relief against an unjustified demand and reaffirming the importance of lawful and properly substantiated electricity billing.

Successful Relief Secured for Our Client

We are pleased to share that AR & Co (Advocates) successfully represented our client before the Lahore High Court, securing the grant of protective bail in a matter arising from an FIR registered by the Anti-Corruption authorities in Karachi.

The matter involved allegations under various provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code, Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947, and Customs Act, 1969.

Our legal team approached the Lahore High Court under Section 498 Cr.P.C., seeking protection for the petitioner to enable him to approach the court of competent jurisdiction and participate in the investigation and legal proceedings.

After hearing the matter, the Honourable Court allowed the petition and granted protective bail to our client until 04.09.2026, safeguarding his fundamental rights of access to justice, liberty, dignity and fair trial.
