Lahore High Court Directs Vice Chancellor Punjab University to Resolve Retired Professor’s Case

In a significant development, the Honourable Mr. Justice Sajid Mehmood Sethi of the Lahore High Court has directed the Vice Chancellor, University of the Punjab, to resolve the long-pending dispute regarding leave encashment at the earliest.

The case relates to Professor Dr. Muhammad Abdul Qadir (Retd.), former Professor and Head of the School of Chemistry, Punjab University, whose leave encashment for 332 days (LPR) was duly sanctioned but remained unpaid despite repeated representations.

The Honourable Court observed that post-retirement benefits are a legal and constitutional right, and unnecessary delay in their release amounts to maladministration. The direction of the Court reinforces the principle that justice delayed is justice denied.

The petitioner was represented by Rana Muhammad Sikander, Advocate High Court, widely known as the “Common Man Lawyer”, a public interest litigant, and a human rights advocate, who has consistently raised his voice for the rights of ordinary citizens, senior citizens, and marginalized communities across Pakistan. As CEO of Alexander Legal Fraternity, he continues to use constitutional litigation as a tool for accountability and justice.

This order is being welcomed as a positive step toward protection of the rights of retired employees and educators and a reminder that public institutions are answerable under the law.

Blind Community Thanks Advocate Rana Muhammad Sikander for Fighting Their Case Free of Cost in Lahore High Court

🙏 A Message of Gratitude from the Blind Union Association to Advocate Rana Sikander

In a heartfelt video aired on national media, the President of the Blind Union Association thanked Advocate Rana Muhammad Sikander (Lahore High Court) for representing them in their recent legal battle completely free of cost.

⚖️ Because of Rana Sikander’s pro bono efforts, the Lahore High Court gave due attention to their long-ignored demands. As a result, the Punjab Government has now agreed to meet their legal rights.

🗣️ “If not for Rana Sahib, the court wouldn't have listened to us,” said the President. “We pray for him — may Allah reward him for standing by the disabled.”

📅 He added that if the agreement is not implemented, the blind community will return to court on December 3rd — their International Day — and will fight again with Rana Sikander leading the charge.

👏 This isn’t just a win in court — it's a victory for justice, selflessness, and dignity.
