We organized the Annual Working Paper Series 2026, centered on the theme “CPEC at the Crossroads: Governance, Regional Politics, and Sustainable Development.” The series brought together senior stakeholders from government, diplomacy, academia, policy research, and early-career researchers to engage in focused discussions on the evolving challenges and opportunities surrounding CPEC.

The sessions explored key areas including inclusive economic growth, legal and regulatory frameworks for cross-border cooperation, environmental sustainability, gender and social inclusion, maritime and trade governance, technological transformation, and regional security dynamics. Through these discussions, the series aimed to generate critical academic and policy insights contributing to more effective and sustainable approaches to CPEC and broader regional cooperation.

Celebrating academic excellence and strengthening educational ties: the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Lahore conferred scholarship awards to two outstanding students of the Law School during the 75 years of Pakistan-China anniversary celebrations.

Laiba Abid (Class of 2027) and Jalal Tarar (Class of 2027) were selected for the scholarship to recognize their strong academic performance and dedication, with each student being awarded PKR 200,000.

This initiative reflects a shared commitment to supporting young talent and encouraging the next generation of leaders, while further strengthening the bond between both institutions and nations.

Celebrations that reflect history, partnership, and a shared future - we convened a high-profile commemorative gathering at LUMS marking 75 years of Pakistan-China diplomatic relations, bringing together distinguished members of academia, the legal fraternity, business and industry leaders, policymakers, and representatives of the Chinese community in Pakistan.
