We extend our sincere condolences to the family of Ayatollah Khamenei, the government and people of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and all those mourning his loss. Implementation, Universal Declaration of Human Rights (IUDHR) Endorses UN Secretary-General’s Call for Immediate De-escalation in the Middle East

CARY, NC — The Implementation, Universal Declaration of Human Rights (IUDHR), under the leadership of President Dr. Baber George, officially issues its full endorsement of the statement delivered today by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres during the emergency Security Council meeting regarding the volatile situation in the Middle East.

In a powerful address to the Security Council, Secretary-General Guterres warned that military actions carry the grave risk of "igniting a chain of events that no one can control." He emphasized that "lasting peace can only be achieved through peaceful means, including genuine dialogue and negotiations."

IUDHR Statement of Support

As an organization dedicated to the global advancement of the UN Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, IUDHR stands in firm solidarity with the Secretary-General’s call for an immediate cessation of hostilities.

“The path of military escalation only leads to the erosion of human dignity and the loss of innocent lives,” stated Dr. Baber George. “IUDHR echoes the Secretary-General’s warning that there is no viable alternative to the peaceful settlement of international disputes. We call upon all Member States to respect international law, uphold national sovereignty, and return to the diplomatic negotiations that were previously showing progress.”

Key Pillars of the Endorsement:

Protection of Civilians: IUDHR highlights the Secretary-General’s concern regarding civilian casualties and reinforces the absolute necessity for all parties to adhere to international humanitarian law.

Restoration of Diplomacy: We urge a return to the negotiating table, specifically regarding regional stability and the nuclear program, to prevent further "squandered diplomacy."

Global Responsibility: IUDHR calls on the international community to support the UN’s efforts to stabilize the most volatile region in the world before the "chain of events" becomes irreversible.

The IUDHR remains committed to its mission of ensuring that the principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights are not just words on paper, but a lived reality for all, especially in times of global crisis.

Hear peace laureate Dmitry Muratov reflect on the responsibilities and informal “social network” of Nobel Prize laureates, describing how they mobilise collectively for ceasefires, political prisoners, and civilian protection.

He also speaks honestly and tirelessly about the need for peace. At its core, his message is that peace begins with defending human dignity — and that saving lives, including through prisoner exchanges, is essential to preserving that legacy.

Official Statement
KM Law Associates – Legal Consultants & Barristers

KM Law Associates expresses its grave concern over the increasing incidents of political victimisation in Pakistan. The misuse of state machinery, initiation of mala fide proceedings, selective accountability, coercive tactics, and harassment of political workers and leaders undermine the very spirit of constitutional democracy and rule of law.

Political victimisation not only violates fundamental rights but also erodes public confidence in state institutions. The Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973, provides clear safeguards to protect citizens from arbitrary and discriminatory actions.

Relevant constitutional protections include:

Article 4 – Right of individuals to be dealt with in accordance with law.

Article 8 – Laws inconsistent with or in derogation of fundamental rights to be void.

Article 9 – Security of person.

Article 10 & 10-A – Safeguards as to arrest and detention and the right to fair trial and due process.

Article 14 – Inviolability of dignity of man.

Article 15 & 16 – Freedom of movement and assembly.

Article 17 – Freedom of association and right to form political parties.

Article 19 – Freedom of speech.

Article 25 – Equality of citizens before law and equal protection of law.

Furthermore, the principles of natural justice, due process of law, and protection against abuse of authority are well established under Pakistani jurisprudence. Any action taken with mala fide intent, political bias, or discriminatory motive is liable to be challenged before the competent courts under Article 199 (High Court jurisdiction) and Article 184(3) (Supreme Court jurisdiction) of the Constitution.

KM Law Associates reiterates that accountability must be transparent, impartial, and in strict conformity with law. Selective prosecution or politically motivated proceedings are unconstitutional and subject to judicial scrutiny.

We call upon all state institutions to uphold constitutional supremacy, maintain neutrality, and ensure that no citizen is subjected to harassment or coercion on the basis of political affiliation. Democracy flourishes only when constitutional guarantees are respected and enforced without discrimination.

KM Law Associates remains committed to defending constitutional rights, protecting civil liberties, and pursuing all available legal remedies against any act of political victimisation.

Strong Condemnation of Cases Against Journalists in Dadu

Advocate Akhtiar Gulab Chandio strongly condemns the cases filed against journalists, including Yasir Shoro and others, for performing their professional duties and exercising their constitutional and legal rights.

He expressed serious concern over the application of the Anti-Terrorism Act on journalists who were raising legitimate questions regarding the alleged extra-judicial killing of Nadir Jamali, and that too within the court premises. Such actions are a direct threat to press freedom, democratic values, transparency, and the rule of law.

Adv. Akhtiar Gulab Chandio emphasized that journalists are the guardians of public information, and suppressing their lawful inquiries is unacceptable and dangerous for a democratic society. He called on the authorities to immediately withdraw all baseless cases, ensure the full protection of journalists, and uphold the constitutional guarantees of freedom of expression and press freedom.

He reiterated that silencing questions cannot deliver justice—accountability and the rule of law can.
